When we hear “advertising,” we often think of glossy brochures or TV commercials. But under FCA rules, a financial promotion is any communication that invites or induces someone to engage in financial activity. That includes websites, press releases, emails, LinkedIn posts, blogs — even tweets!
If you mention your services, your firm, or the benefits of using you, it’s very likely a financial promotion — and the FCA rules will apply. This includes being “clear, fair and not misleading,” which forms part of both the Principles for Businesses and the Consumer Duty.
Our Financial Promotions Manuals (for Insurance Brokers and Mortgage Brokers) explain these rules in detail and provide helpful guidance to keep your materials compliant.
