Providing tailored, well-justified advice is crucial for meeting the unique needs of each client. As an adviser, you should:
- Tailor Recommendations: Personalise advice based on a thorough understanding of the client’s financial situation, including their income, expenditure, along with their current and future needs.
- Challenge Assumptions: Don’t rely on a form-filling approach. Challenge customers’ assumptions and preferences, and provide clear evidence and reasoning for the advice given.
We often see files that have the same standard text for each case. Whilst there will be a lot of similar circumstances and needs, Advisers should take the time to get to know their customer and use the customers own words whenever possible to aid in justifying the advice given.
